Gritting side streets - or not?
At 7.45am a griitter lorry came down our street. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t have believed it. In the 8 winters we have lived here that has never happened. Usually we are left with an icy road long after most of the snow has melted. So I thought maybe the council has listened to all the complaints they got last year and decided to grit the side streets… ...

Red hat
cold enough to need a wooly hat, but warm enough for shorts, apparently. All I know is that my fingers were going numb, trying to take pictures!

Another Pink Bike
This seems to be something I’ve spotted a lot recently - men with pink bikes (most of them riding them) Is this a new fashion, an anti theft device or do men actually quite like pink? Women on pink bikes appear to be much rarer…

Autumn Leaves and Cycle Parking
This is the cycle parking at Sheffield Hallam University - probably the single biggest in the city and well used. Now cycle parking at the station - well that’s another issue -hardly any stands and massively oversubscribed. There is a massive multi-storey carpark next door, which is rarely more than half full…

Green and the wheel is no more
Yes the wheel of Sheffield is no more - here we see the last remnants being dismantled and chucked in a (well several actually) skip. and now it was as if it were never there. All that remains are memories… and my photographs!

Dashing Pair
I was too slow to catch these two gentlemen as they rode past. So obviously I couldn’t disappoint you dear reader and I chased after them (on my bike obviously) and managed to catch up with them to ask them to pose, which they were very happy to do so!

Coffee Break
What could be better on a cold autumn morning than a coffee by bike? As my daughter pointed out “look mummy an old bike like yours” - although this is a slightly more “modern” version of my Raleigh Roadster. …and not only full marks for matching gloves and bike, but also fantastic tights!

Vintage Raleigh Roadster Part 3
Say hello to Janet in her new finery! As well as a good clean she has had a few modifications… The most obvious being the new cream Schwalbe Delta Cruiser tyres. To be honest I have a thing about white tyres since being a small child, my first bike had white tyres and I was very disappointed when they went out of fashion and you couldn’t get them any more. Black tyres seem so...
